| circumstance ALWAYS contest a ticket. My second degree negigent driving ticket (86 in a 60mph zone) was reduced to 10mph over. Cop's vision was blocked by a hill and he couldn't see that I was passing other cars. I saved $437 and kept a pretty serious infraction off of my record. Before that I was picked out of the middle of a group of cars traveling through a speed trap. Cop claimed I was going 21mph faster than the limit and everybody else. I got the cost of that ticket reduced a third by going to court. If you have a plausible explanation, schedule a hearing. Be well prepared, have the facts and bring evidence that will help your case (diagrams or pics e.g.). Be polite, calm, and well groomed, and skip emotional appeals. GO FOR IT! You may be surprised with the outcome.
